JustFix.nyc seeks a full-time Communications Associate to join us on our mission to ensure safe & healthy homes for all working-class New Yorkers.

The Communications Associate must have a passion for sharing tenants rights and empowerment with residents from working-class communities and communities of color. Reporting to the Program Director, they will be responsible for ensuring regular communication between our organization staff and our users (tenants and partner organizations), as well as documenting and sharing our learnings and successes with critical stakeholders (funders, journalists, etc.). The ideal candidate is a self-starter who wants to capture and create compelling content about the work of JustFix.nyc, tenant leaders, and our housing justice partners.

By combining highly scalable web-based, mobile-friendly, and SMS tools and services with advanced housing data analysis, we aim to galvanize a 21st century tenant movement working for housing for all.

Key Responsibilities

External Communications

  • Manage and write newsletters for partners, users, and general audience
  • Develop and manage marketing and outreach materials
  • Manage all social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube)
  • Manage JustFix Learning Center (content marketing site) and content contributors

Grant Writing / Development

  • Assist in writing grant proposals and reports
  • Maintain systems to ensure accurate tracking of donors, funding, proposals, and reports
  • Create and manage new funder prospect identification, solicitation, and stewardship of donors and prospects


Qualities

Must have:

  • Excellent interpersonal, listening, verbal and written communications skills
  • Wide experience and knowledge of digital communications platforms and engagement strategies, as well as metrics and measurement tools
  • Self-organization, efficiency and ability to meet deadlines
  • Curiosity, flexibility, and ability to learn quickly
  • Motivated by our mission
  • Desire to build something that makes an impact
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • English and Spanish dominant (reading, writing, speaking)
  • NYC-based (this is not a remote position)

Salary is $50,000-60,000 annually for 40 hours a week (full time, exempt) and includes full health/vision/dental insurance. Our plant-friendly office is based in Chinatown in Lower Manhattan.
